Substrate Preparations

Surface, which has to be covered with geomembrane, should be mechanically in accordance with Final Design. It is very important for that surface is smooth, and there is no material which can damage geomembrane later. It si important that Final Design include anchor trenches, for geomembrane anchoring and covering with ballast, to prevent further fall of geomembrane into the excavation.

Prefabrication

Advantage of EPDM is prefabrication of large dimension panels. The shape and dimensions of panels are determined by its position on the site. Size of panels could be up to 1.800m2. They are packed in workshop in a way to enable the most easiest way for installing on site with unpacking and positioning at the same time on previously determined positions.

Installing

Trelleborg EPDM Geomembrane system provides an engineered system where all products and methods are designed for an installation meeting the highest expectations on quality and performance. Proper, approved installation procedure and layout must be verified before start of field instalation. In next lines of text are given the most important steps. Installing of EPDM geomembrane must be provide from side of approved contractor, whom is working under the procedures from Trelleborg. Before laying the EPDM, surface it is generally recommended to provide smooth substrate, ususlly with usage of geotextile. Proper weight is from 300 gr/m2 can be used. After the positioning of geomembrane panels over specific area, the panels are joined. One way to join overlaps is vulcanizing, which enables compact joints with the same characteristics as the membrane. More advantage system to make joints is with air channel in the mid of joint. This air channel is used for testing the continuity and quality of the seams..Those joints are made with usage of proper thermo-fusion welds equipment. All other details necessary for proper jointing are given threw installation procedure.p>
